Hello in your last blog post you asked for feedbacks.
Then there is my two cents words.
First of all I really like your concept with a trackpoint.
And as a Vim user I really like the real ESC key on the top left of the keyboard.
Then the little improvement I would like to have.
- numpad
As i can see you have provisioned a keyboard numpad layer when numlock is asserted with the simbols : “1234767890-+=”.
When using arithmetique I also frequently need “*/()”.
Then y would like to also have them on the numpad layer.
Maybe “/*” on the lower right corner of the “BN” keys and “()” on the lowers corners of the “GH” keys.
The aside with the arrows on ZXCD, I would like to also have “home” and “end” on the “S” and “F” keys.
- Ponctuation
I thing ‘,’ and ‘.’ are used lot more in normal text and even in code than ‘/’ and ‘?’.
Then I would place the standard Qwerty key ‘,<’ on the left of the space bar and ‘.>’ on the right of the space bar. And place the ‘?’ on the “V” key and ‘/’ on the “B” key.
This way with the preceding modification the ‘B’ key will trigger ‘/’ either with numlock or Fn.
- International characters
I would like to use the QMK/ZMK “tap/hold” functionality to have the CTRL key as CTRL when hold and as Deadkey when tapped. Then every one can tape character like ‘é’ with “deadkey” then “'” then “e” for exemple or any other unicode character.
- Maj Fn NumLock
It would be great to also use the hold / tap function of the QMK/ZMK keyboard to make
- Maj on hold and MajLock on tap
- Fn on hold and FnLock on tap
- Num on hold and NumLock on tap
But maybe it is already on your plane
- middle click
I really would love to have a middle click button for the mouse.
It is so convenient on linux.
